Jesus is King of Kings and Lord of Lords!
I am a bit of a history buff. Perhaps growing up in a family that read the Bible lends itself to an interest in all things historical. We learned about God’s people through the historical records written by Moses. We learned about linages, and good kings and bad kings. Battles and wars.
As a teenager, I read a different kind of mystery novel titled ‘The Daughter of Time’ by Josephine Tey. Scotland Yard’s Inspector Grant is laid up in the hospital and to pass the time tries to uncover a four-hundred-year-old mystery about what happened to the Princes in the Tower. That book made me something of a Ricardian, a supporter of Richard III.
I was excited when the discovery of his grave was reported in the press and have just finished reading The King’s Grave by Philippa Langley and Michael Jones. It’s the account of Philippa’s search for Richard’s remains and gives a detailed history of King Richard III of the House of York. The book reveals Richard’s true kingly characteristics, and not as he was portrayed by Shakespeare, in his play Richard III.
As I read I was saddened by how Richard was so maligned down through the ages. His being remembered as an evil hunchback with a withered arm who murdered his two nephews to secure his right to the throne of England.
Jesus, King of kings and Lord of lords!
Then I thought about Jesus, and how His name is maligned daily when used as a swear word. How works of art by the great painters in the Renaissance depict Him as a thin, sickly and woebegone man. People’s idea of Jesus is sometimes as a shepherd or a kind man but rarely as He is now, the King of kings and Lord of lords!
I recently wrote a Bible lesson about The Name of Jesus. The lesson explains the power of the name and person of Jesus Christ. The Bible story is from the Book of Acts when Peter and John came upon a lame man begging for alms at the gate Beautiful. The man is healed in the name of Jesus, and the story continues with the High Priest and his associates trying to stop the name of Jesus from being preached. The lesson explains the importance of the name of Jesus and why the devil has tried to destroy it. The Ministry to Children section tells the children they can call upon the name of Jesus and be saved. (Romans 10:13)

Jesus Christ will return one day and when He does, it will be as King! (Revelation 1:12-20) When John saw Jesus, he was overwhelmed and fell down at his feet as though dead. As did Ezekiel (Ezekiel 1:28) and Daniel (Daniel 8:17).
Children must see Jesus as King of kings and Lord of lords, powerful, glorious and mighty! And they need to show Him respect for who He is.
