Spring Cleaning!
The spring days’ warmth causes my plants to sit up to show off their blooms, and the world feels fresh and inviting. On schedule, the Cooee bird migrated from Southeast Asia to our yard and began its monotonous call that will last until summer’s end. A blue-tongued lizard lumbered across our patio and the cockatoos ate the marigolds.
All signalling it’s time to freshen up the house and outdoor entertaining areas. Have you started spring cleaning yet? I started early because my twin nieces celebrated their twenty-first birthdays at our home. With some 60 guests invited you know I was washing windows and dusting ceiling fans! And wouldn’t you know it? I have a Bible lesson about spring cleaning! It’s part of the Life House series.
Life House 1: Open House
Children are introduced to Oliver, better known as Ollie, and his ‘life house’. Even though Ollie’s life house is full and even cluttered, there are times when he feels empty. Then Mr. H comes to teach RI at school, he tells the children that Jesus will come and be at home in their life house. (John 14:23; Revelation 3:20) The Memory Verse is learned by hanging out the washing, and there’s a game of musical chairs. Children can make a Home Sweet Home bookmark.

Life House 2: Change of Address
Ollie learns about the life of Saul who changed address to become the Apostle Paul. It was a big move! The biggest move of all is moving from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of God’s dear Son, Jesus! The Memory Verse found in Colossians 1:13&14 is assembled using a moving day relay. The children play a game of Capture the House and construct an LED tea light house from boxes.

Life House 3: Clean House
In this lesson, Ollie learns about sanctification. He must ‘clean house’. Rubbish talk and grubby attitudes have to go! There’s a Memory Verse pie used to learn 1 Thessalonians 5:23. Minute to Win It clean-up games to play and a sponge water toy to make and use in a water fight!

I hope these lessons will help you spring into action and teach the kids in your care about Jesus and how they can invite Him into their lives where He can clean sweep sin, give them a change of address, and throw out any bad habits!
